16 Creating the Target List Who are you trying to reach? A clear definition of your target market allows you to focus your search. Define your target market using the following three elements: Geographic location Industry or type of organization Size of organization

17 Creating Your Target List  Once your criteria is defined, make a list of organizations that meet them  Show this list to your contacts, and to get information and referrals to insiders  If you know a company for whom you would like to work, target them first  Draw a fifty mile radius  Use resources to help you determine which companies are hot today
