“DECLARING GOD’S WORTH”

Psalm 18:I-3 (NKJV) I will love You, O Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; My God, my strength, in whom I will trust; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised; Declaring God’s Worth

If our worship is infrequent, and inconsistent, if our worship is cold, and complacent the value that we place upon God is too low! Declaring God’s Worth

Does that describe the condition of our worship? Does that describe our relationship with God? Worship which is breathing is alive, vibrant, moving and it is all determined by the worth that we place upon God! Declaring God’s Worth

When David in Psalms 18 thought about the Lord he said He is worthy of my praise: When he reminisced about all that God had done in his life, He praised God! When he remembered God had forgiven all his sins, He praised God! Declaring God’s Worth

Psalm 42:4 NIV “These things I remember as I pour out my soul: How I used to go to the house of God under the protection of the Mighty One with shouts of joy and praise among the festive throng”. Declaring God’s Worth

Is God worthy of your worship? Has he done anything for you that makes him worthy of your worship? Has he blessed you? Has he saved you? Is he worthy of your worship? Then don’t let anything stop you from doing it! Declaring God’s Worth

Let us look at three things concerning worship: 1. Determining God’s Worth. 2. Demonstrating God’s Worth. 3. Declaring God’s Worth. Declaring God’s Worth

1. Determining God’s Worth. He is worthy of our worship & praise: A. Because of his character. Psalm 86:10 NIV – “For you are great and do marvellous deeds; you alone are God.” Declaring God’s Worth

B. Because of his creation Revelation 4:11 NIV - ‘You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honour and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being.’ Declaring God’s Worth

C. Because of his compassion. Psalm 86:15 NIV – “But you, Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness”. Declaring God’s Worth

D. Because of his Cross. Revelation 5:9 NIV – “And they sang a new song, saying: ‘You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, because you were slain, and with your blood you purchased for God persons from every tribe and language and people and nation.” Declaring God’s Worth

2. Demonstrating God’s Worth Having determined his worth, how do we demonstrate his worth? A. By our profession (declaring our belief in God). This is the first and vital step towards demonstrating that God is worthy. We must possess, and profess faith in him. Declaring God’s Worth

B. By our participation. We demonstrate his worth to us when we obey him by participating in the things that please him. “God inhabits the praises of His people” C. By our posture. Our posture speaks to people and to God! Declaring God’s Worth

D. By our praise. Psalm 9:2 NIV – “I will be glad and rejoice in you; I will sing the praises of your name, O Most High.” Glad means “to make joy” or “to brighten up”. Rejoice means “to jump for joy” Declaring God’s Worth

3. Declaring God’s Worth We should not only demonstrate God’s worth in our public and private worship, but we should declare God’s worth to others. Psalm 73:28 NIV – “But as for me, it is good to be near God. I have made the Sovereign Lord my refuge; I will tell of all your deeds.” Declaring God’s Worth

In Conclusion: How do we declare his worth every day? In our Lives! In our Love! In our Legacy! By our Lips! Declaring God’s Worth
