Presentation transcript:

Welcome

Introduction This short online presentation will give you a quick overview of what you can expect as well as the technical needs of the show on arrival. If you have any questions please contact: Prepared: Revised: Expires:

General Info We’ve got great news!!! Kevin Ford’s Hypnotism and Beyond Stage Show may be the easiest and most flexible road show you’ve ever worked with. At least we hope so! In this presentation we’ll go over the basics to help make your job easier before and at showtime. You may wish to print the appropriate pages for distribution to any crew. In addition you can download and save the Powerpoint file to your desktop at the download center of our website ( This online presentation is always a work in progress. If, as you go through it, something occurs to you that has been omitted, or you think of something that would help others in the future please us and let us know: On with the show…….>>>>>

Quick Show Overview Kevin Ford’s Hypnotism & Beyond show runs approx minutes. The show invites members of the audience to come up on stage and be hypnotized. While Mr. Ford extends a general invitation for volunteers to join him, normally anywhere from six to two dozen volunteers will come up. Once in hypnosis, the fun begins as the guests on stage let their Subconscious mind control their actions. As the show progresses Kevin keeps his best subjects onstage for more fun and surprises. Some of the routines in the show use a music bed. These cues will be run by your sound technician during the show. Unlike a stage play you never know what might happen, so the show uses a very loose script similar to a “improvisational” show. You’ll find Kevin very easy to work with and a lot fun!

18 to 24 chairs onstage (preset onstage with the remainder set offstage) within easy reach. Stairs or easy access from audience to the stage so that the performer and audience members can get on and off the stage. (For details see “Show Plot “ - slide 7) House sound system (see “audio sections” for details) General stage and house lighting. 1 sound tech volunteer to run cues throughout the show Lighting tech crew if needed by your venue. The show does not require riggers or hands. (Proscenium drape is open at all times) v outlets or power strip within 4 ft. of the mixer board. Followspot (optional) What is needed from you…

What the show brings… Laptop computer with software installed to run the show’s audio cues 1- “Shure” wireless handheld microphone and stand. Audio Cables and adapters (if needed) Mini stereo to RCA patch cord (audio out from laptop) RCA to ¼” “Y” adapter (stereo to mono) ¼” phono to XLR adapter (if needed) XLR microphone patch cord (for mic receiver) 110v Power adapters for Laptop PC and Microphone receiver

General Show Arrival Info Mr. Ford will arrive at your venue approximately 1 hour prior to the time we have been told the house will open. If this will not work out for scheduling please advise our office to what time would be best. About 40 minutes on-site is needed for technical arrangements. Mr. Ford travels with a wardrobe bag and one carry-on piece of luggage (that includes sound and video equipment). A dressing area with, mirror, chair, place to hang wardrobe bag, trash can, access or directions to a nearby restroom, and two bottles of drinking water are to be provided.

Stage Plot

Show Lighting…. Due to the wide variety of venues where the show is booked we do not provide a light plot. The show needs a general wash (Downstage and Apron area) throughout the performance. House lights full as audience is seated with stage at about 30% as a curtain warmer. When show begins house to 25% and general stage wash up full.

Audio Setup page 1 Boot the computer Select “SHOW” as the user in the Window XP login screen The “SFX audio software” will automatically startup during boot up. See “Audio Software” section for more information on the software and how to run the show cues. After all connections are made.. –Place mic stand onstage (Down stage Center) –Install a new battery in the onstage mic. –Perform a sound check with the onstage microphone. Leave in mic stand. NOTE: Power should be turned on… AND mute turned off just prior to the starting the show.

Audio Setup page 2 Master volume has been set within each music track. You will need to do a sound check on these files to determine a master volume for the mixing board. The software will provide details in the “NOTES WINDOW” of the program. The software has been programmed to take you step-by- step through the setup, sound check, pre-curtain music and actual show music. Kevin will meet with the sound tech after the equipment is installed to review the show or answer questions.

The show uses a Windows based software package called “SFX” The software organizes the cues, fades, effects, and other audio needs in the order they are needed. This is a very easy to operate package. By simply clicking on the onscreen “GO BUTTON” each cue is executed in order. Additionally, the screen displays notes for each cue in a separate onscreen window giving you instructions throughout the show. The next 2 pages will show you screenshots of the program you’ll be using throughout the show…. Please be patient as the screen shot images load. About the Audio Software

Please be patient as the screen image loads. Software screenshot #1 2. Cue information appears here in the “Notes” window 1. Audio file play list window “SFX screenshot” 3. Click on the GO BUTTON to start a cue. The entire area of the window is clickable.

Software screenshot #2 This window displays and advances the play list as each cue is executed. It shows the current file playing, cue number, time remaining and a brief description. A cue (in the program) can be a music file or an effect (such as fade out). “SFX screenshot 2 The notes window will change (advance) as each cue executes By clicking anywhere on the GO button each cue will execute and your next cue will appear in the notes window.

Followspot Cues If a followspot is used pick up Kevin Ford as he enters. Throughout the show follow main action. The only cues for the followspot technician occur about minutes into the performance during the actual “Induction of Hypnosis” 1.When Kevin brings out a crystal ball turn followspot off. 2.Later when Kevin tells the volunteers to “fasten their seat belts” turn it back on and stay with main action. Followspot use is entirely optional
