Client Services Focus Historical Bandwidth Statistics 2002 OARnet had 623 Mbs. of Internet OARnet had 2,556Mbs. of Internet 1 5,642 Mbs. 8 times the Commodity Internet of 2002 Double the Commodity Internet of 2006

Client Services Focus Last Mile Connections Looking at upgrading 2 T-1 Connections to Ethernet Working on getting two of OSU remote campuses DS-3 to ethernet at lower costs through connections through ITC’s. Lorain, Oberlin and Bluffton upgrading current DS-3’s to ethernet.

Client Services Initiatives 20 College Visits (Since last OARtech). New Co-location Facility has 20 current customer commitments (Full)! Looking for new co location space New OARnet Academic members: Ohio Christian University (newest member) Currently working with Campus EAI OSTN

Client Services Focus New GIG Opteman to Rio Grande in process to replace GIGAMAN to service University of Rio Grande, Rio Grande Community College and hospitals and local government in process. Marietta GIG Opteman in process to service Community in process.

Client Services Focus Internet 2- Ann and TJ Remote Instrumentation presentation and demonstration at Fall Member Meeting. Internet2 full member meeting Dec. 4- Reviewed 6 year budget. University of Dayton and Miami will be upgraded to full I2 members over 3 years. Internet2 will raise full member/SEGP rates slightly to cover upgrades to network and keep reserves. Working with K-12 on Internet 2 programs Research Initiatives

Client Services Focus Increased Collaboration efforts- combining efforts with OLN, OhioLink, eTECH, and BOR on all software, hardware and services. Video Collaboration OIT, eTech, OARnet-New Pricing and automated scheduler Migrating video conferencing customers to eTech beginning Jan. 1

Emergency Web Hosting This is a hosted service on the OSCnet State-of-the-art backbone. OARnet provides all software and hardware for basic service. Use secure FTP access to upload simple html pages to a web site with 1 GB of allotted storage space to access and maintain files. This emergency site can provide as little or as much information as you wish your viewers to have in the event of an emergency. Finally, switching to and from the emergency web site will be as easy as calling the OARnet Support Center and your web presence will available within 2 hours of your call.
