INFSO-RI Enabling Grids for E-sciencE Earth Sciences Requirements and Resources OAG Wed 18 May 2005

Enabling Grids for E-sciencE INFSO-RI To change: View -> Header and Footer 2 Requirements EGEE Requirements collected in two places – And – The first one appears to be a subset while the second one appears to be a more complete list Not clear who if anyone from ESR has login access to these pages (i.e. to contribute) EO requirement for geospatial metadata support discussed in Athens with P. Kuntz and R. La Rocha –No more news since then Most other ESR requirements are included in these lists (as from EDG AWG input) Possibility to vote to increase priority of a requirement? MoU : –done on 15/07/2004 –all applications including ESR and EGEODE –New frame received; not yet updated

Enabling Grids for E-sciencE INFSO-RI To change: View -> Header and Footer 3 Resources Machines Resources –The ESR VO can be considered self-sufficient in terms of available resources vs. estimated needs of the deployed applications –However, there is need for some dedicated machines / services (e.g. for Metadata, VOMS testing, etc.) Human Resources –ESR participation in EGEE is quite limited  lack of dedicated people means low level of support for ESR activities –Difficulty to attend meetings, conferences, training events  No travel budget –Increased levels of participation of ESR is need to  Increase the number and type of applications and users of EGEE middleware & infrastructure  Widen exploitation of EGEE by generic (ESR) applications  Towards a more standard middleware & infrastructure, as opposed to “splintering” into differerent middleware solutions Training –Needed for ESR site admins, application developers and users
