Room 23

In this class, Students will learn the Cal. State Life Science curriculum for the 7 th grade. In this class, students will enjoy school. In this class, who students who make a real effort will pass. In this class students will learn to be organized.

Dear students and parents, This year 7 th grade science will investigate many of the various facets of Life Science. This study will include the Scientific Method, the structure and function of cells, Living Organisms, Classification, Genetics, Evolution, Body Systems, and Sexual Reproduction. The students overall grade will be determined on the following basis for each of three trimesters:  50% Testing (Chapter/ Unit tests)  10% Quizzes (pop quizzes, sections)  10% Performance, opening questions, planner, notebook checks, etc.)  10% Homework (complete when due!)  20% Classwork (packets, projects, labs, etc.) Note taking will be a necessary skill that students will learn in this class. Their notebook will be a great place to check their progress. Students will record their classwork and their homework in their planners. Check it every day and sign it every weekend to give them performance points. A parent must sign the planner each weekend to make sure that all work is being completed. Notebooks, planners and supplies will be checked nearly every Monday by the teacher. Prior to studying sexual reproduction, permission slips will go home for your approval. Once again, I hope that you will take an active role helping your child with some guidance and the necessary materials to be ready each Monday. Finally, this is a list of materials that I expect to see every day with your student: Pencils, notebook, notebook paper, erasable art markers, and eraser. If this becomes a problem, discipline will result and I will be calling you during class. Thank you for your attention, Mr. Archambault (Archie), Science teacher, 9/16/09
