Witch ball rolls the farthest TOPIC

Purpose The reason we are doing this project is… to see which ball will roll the farthest out of a soccer ball , volleyball , and a basketball. Hypothesis We think that.. The volleyball will go the farthest because it’s the lightest and it bounces higher.

Materials List A basketball A volleyball A soccer ball A tape measure 2 pencils 2 pieces of paper And the ramp that’s in the hallway

Procedures Step 1 – we got the balls out of the closet (A Basketball, A Soccer ball, and a volley ball. ) Step 2 – we picked them up and walked them into the hallway . Step 3 – we first laid the soccer ball down on top of the ramp and waited until Mrs. Ledbetter said go and then we tapped it just barely and watched it roll down the ramp Step 4 – we recorded our results Step 5 – then we laid the basketball down on top of the ramp Step 6 – then we repeated steps 2, and 4 two more times. Step 7 – then we laid the volley ball down the ramp and tapped it and repeated steps 2, and 4 two more times.

WHICH BALL ROLLS THE FARTHEST?

Conclusion our hypothesis was right Conclusion our hypothesis was right. We predicted that the volleyball would go the farthest, because it is the lightest and it bounces higher. It did go the farthest with a length of 80 ½ ft.

Acknowledgements We would like to thank Mrs. Ledbetter for helping us in the ball roll by helping us measure how far the ball went. Mr. Beckham for telling us when to roll it and for running after the balls. We ‘d also like to thank Colton for letting us use his basketball and we’d like to thank everyone who brought in supplies and we’d like to thank Cassi for letting us use her tape measure. And we’d like to thank all the judges and whoever let us do the science fair THANK YOU
