Rules and Consequences I will follow the rules and consequences outlined in your Student Handbook and Code of Conduct.

Entrance Make sure you have all necessary materials for this class. Enter the classroom quietly. Go directly to your assigned seat. Get ready for your work. If you have homework to turn in, place it in the tray designated for your class period.

Supplies You should bring your English supplies each time you come to class: Composition notebook English folder Black Ink Pen (Blue is acceptable, but not preferred) No pencils – if you need a pencil for any assignment I will provide one

Agenda and Bell Work Every day will begin with an agenda, vocabulary and bell work Immediately copy the agenda and vocabulary in your composition notebook and start the bell work that will be written on the board or projected onto the screen. Bell work may be a journal entry, a sentence to be corrected, a review for a quiz, etc. Bell work is mandatory is a major grade each six weeks. When you finish, wait quietly for the next direction.

May I Have Your Attention Please? If I need to get your attention at any time during class I will give you the time-out signal Stop whatever you are doing at that moment. Face me and wait silently. Notify any classmates who haven’t noticed that I have raised my hand. No talking or whispering. All of your attention should be given to the me.

Turning in Assignments All assignments should be turned in to the tray for your class. Homework should be turned in as soon as you get to class.

Headings All assignments, including tests should have the proper heading: Your Name Mrs. Graham English I Date I will not accept assignments without this heading. (That means I will not grade them, which means you do not earn credit for that assignment.)

Dismissal Wait for me to dismiss you. The ring of the bell does not dismiss you. After you get permission to leave, gather your things and leave quietly.

Restroom Breaks You have ample time to go before you get here. Any student late for any reason is late.

Absences/Make-up Work I will follow the rules regarding absences and make-up work as outlined in your student handbook. YOU are responsible for your make-up work. All assignments will be posted to the class calendar which can be found on the class Wiki: – If you are absent for a test you must arrange to take a make-up test. This DOES NOT APPLY if you are absent the day before the test or the day of a review.

Late Work I will follow the rules regarding late work as outlined in your Student Handbook.

Academic Honesty It is expected that students will use genuine, sincere, and fair means for completing tests, tasks and projects. Students found plagiarizing, copying or cheating in any way will be disciplined according to the Student Handbook and Code of Conduct. Documentation of the incident will be kept on file

Cell Phones/iPods I will follow the rules and regulations regarding cell phones and other electronic devices as outlined in the Student Handbook Occasionally we may use cell phones for instructional purposes such as recording assignment due dates and test dates in your cell phone calendar feature.
