Marketing To Grow Your Business - Public Relations

Twitter 101 | The 5 W’s of Twitter and How to Use it for Your Business

Who should post? Who is your audience? – Executives- clients, peers – Broker/Owners or MSAs- key recruits, the community Who to follow? – Local news – Industry news – Competitors – Broker/Owners- your Executives – Executives- your clients WHO?

Users send and read text-based messages known as “Tweets” of up to 140 characters. Most commonly used between friends and celebrities. WHAT is Twitter?

Don’t let the “Tweets” Twitpics” and online jargon overwhelm you. Twitter is user-friendly!

Why Spend Time on Social Media

Tool to organize post themes Helps for posts to go “viral” Encourages others to join the conversation Examples: – #realestate – #realtyexecutives – #realtyexecutivesexperts – #soldhomes – #realestateexpert What’s all this about #hashtags!?

First and foremost follow THEM on Twitter first Newsletter- article with a contest follow up for the first person to follow you Blog- article about your new presence with icon and link to take them to your page Website- icon with a link Marketing materials- newsletters, business cards, billboards, advertisements, you name it! WHERE do I go to get followers on my Twitter?

Frequency- a lot more freedom about amount of posts on Twitter compared to Facebook If you’re status happy this is the place for you! Can and should post multiple times in a day or at least multiple times a week WHEN should I post?

Demographics: – Almost equal male to female ratio – 55% of Twitter users are 35 or older – The average Twitter user is 37.3 years old Peak times: – Monday through Thursday – Morning posts are least likely to be reTweeted according to a study in Texas – 3-6 p.m. with 5 p.m. being the absolute best time Peak Times

Competition is there! Added exposure It’s free! It’s a fun way to network and get the word out about your business It’s the digital age and the way the next generation of REALTORS® and clients are doing business OK, so WHY do I need to be on Twitter again?

Unlike Facebook, use a separate account to create business page Go to Twitter.com New to Twitter- follow sign up instructions – Username and password Use a clean background – Live drive of film on background Logo for main icon Couple sentences of description about you HOW do I sign up?

Twitter.com/RealtyExec ReTweet our posts Follow as many people as you can (and businesses too) Follow us!
