DIRECTIONAL TERMS (to give relation of one body part to another) 1. SUPERIOR Toward the head end; above 2. INFERIOR Away from the head end; below

3. ANTERIOR (VENTRAL) front 4. POSTERIOR (DORSAL) back

5. MEDIAL Toward the middle of the body 6. LATERAL Away from the middle

7. PROXIMAL Near point of attachment (shoulder, hip, neck) 8. DISTAL Away from point of attachment
