MATH BASICS We meet everyday for 90 minutes. Our curriculum is accelerated Skills are embedded in problem solving and non- routine problems to stretch thinking.
DAILY MATH LESSONS We teach the TEKS through different learning styles Examples: Manipulatives and games Math Talks Exposure to different strategies through non- routine and everyday math problems Daily reflection and journal writing
INDEPENDENT PRACTICE LOOKS LIKE… Playing math games Problem solving in groups, with a partner, or independently Small group teacher sessions Journal reflections Practice applying skills at a deeper level
THIRD GRADE HOMEWORK Problem solving: “Stretch Your Thinking” questions Skill review/practice as needed Daily fact fluency practice (3 rd ) Goal: (Addition and subtraction) 100 problems with 95% or better accuracy (5 minutes of under) by the end of October Multiplication/Division- 78 problems of one operation, 5 minutes or less, by the end of March Record practice times and activity on homework paper Time commitment: Max. 20 minutes per night unless by choice Homework will go home on Fridays and will be due on the following Friday.
FOURTH GRADE HOMEWORK Goes home on Tuesday/due the following Tuesday It will consist of skill practice/review and Math Olympiads. (MOEMS) Skill practice and spiral Problem solving Time commitment: minutes nightly

How will we track student progress? Rubric scores-amount of points earned out of the total points available for the assignment Example : 4/6 on an assignment. Weekly math binder with graded assignments Work will go home throughout the week in IS Teacher anecdotal notes Informal assessments completed in class Assessments of learning objectives TRACK PROGRESS
