The Internet

TCIP/IP  TCP/IP stands for Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol, which is a set of networking protocols that allows two or more computers to communicate. The Defense Data Network, part of the Department of Defense, developed TCP/IP, and it has been widely adopted as a networking standard.

IP Adress  "IP" stands for Internet Protocol, so an IP address is an Internet Protocol address.

ISP  Internet service provider  Rogers  Cogeco  Bell

DNS  Domain Name System  The Domain Name System is the system used by the internet to translate your domain name from it's commonly used URL (ie. into its true numerical IP address (ns1.example.com ).

URL  Improve  The word URL stand for universal Resource locater For every page on the Internet there is a unique address. Every time you visit a page on the Word Wide Web you will see they all have a different URL.

Search Engines  A program that searches documents for specified keywords and returns a list of the documents where the keywords were found. Although search engine is really a general class of programs, the term is often used to specifically describe systems like Google, Alta Vista and Excite that enable users to search for documents on the World Wide Web and USENET newsgroups.

Cookies  A cookie, also known as an HTTP cookie, web cookie, or browser cookie, is used for an origin website to send state information to a user's browser and for the browser to return the state information to the origin site.[1] The state information can be used for authentication, identification of a user session, user's preferences, shopping cart contents, or anything else that can be accomplished through storing text data on the user's computer.
