Lesson 7 Leading Causes of Death Accident Prevention Poster

What are the top three leading causes of death for ages 15-24?

TEST REMINDER!!!! You have a test next class!!! Study the materials in your binder!!! The test thoroughly covers the topics from lesson 2 to lesson 7- which is today’s class. Be prepared !

OBJECTIVES: I CAN…  Identify factors that play a role in fatal teen crashes.  Create a prevention message, geared at teens, highlighting precautions when driving /riding in a car.

IMAGINE IF… Let’s envision the possibility of reducing teen deaths from motor vehicle accidents.

To assist in this process… Your TASK will be to create a prevention poster, to help teens become aware of the dangers and risks that certain behaviors and circumstances pose when driving. Watch a segment from the video: “Young Drivers, the High Risk Years.”

Accident Prevention Poster Looking for a creative, original and positive prevention message that targets your age group. Think about the information from the video. Utilize other resource/reference information for the factual information you need to include in your poster. Your message needs to be positive! A positive message does not showcase blood etc.

Read the rubric, on the back of the TOP THREE CAUSES OF DEATH WORKSHEET, to see how you can achieve a high grade for this assignment. You will attach this RUBRIC to your poster when you hand it in. Rubric for Grading the Prevention Poster

The prevention poster will be due next class.

Resources… Use these resources, available in class, to find some facts/statistics related to teens and motor vehicle accidents. Copy the facts you want to use on a piece of paper until you are ready to add them to your poster. PLEASE RETURN THESE RESOURCE PAPERS BEFORE LEAVING CLASS.

COLORING RULES: M-Make a border. O-Outline in a darker color. O- Only white things in real life can be white. N-No white spaces left-color completely!
