Pay Attention! Time frame = 40 minutes No talking please - unless I’m asking for a response. No cell phones - turn them all to silent or vibrate mode.

Do You Know Your Section #? Lecture exams Pop/extra credit quizzes Lab quizzes Practicals exams

Label ALL of Your Belongings Put your name on your: Lab manualLab note book Text bookDissection kit Unmarked = not returned!!

Be on time to lab! There are no make-up lab quizzes. If you are late, regardless of the reason, you risk missing some, if not all, of the quiz questions. If you miss the quiz you cannot take it in another section.

Clean up Keep lab clean. Take all of your belongings! Microscopes. Unwanted dissections. Wash & dry any hand-made slides and cover-slips and put them away.

Use the Lab Web Site! //bio.fsu.edu/~bsc2011l/ Location of course documents (Lecture & Lab) Figures to know Cladograms Images Posted information = help-line, NOT a replacement to coming to lab.

Need Lab Help? Feeling overwhelmed or don’t understand something in lab??? ………………..See your TA If your TA is not around, ……………..see another TA …………or come and see me.

Mia CON 115 F1-3p.m. Matt CON 101T12-1p.m. Pete CON 309M2-4p.m. Brendan Biggs CON 302 T/R 10-11a.m. Tim CON 306W9-11a.m.

Lecture Info. Attendance is recommended but not mandatory. No cell phone use - off, silent or vibrate mode. Students disturbing the class will be asked to leave.

Lecture Help Need help with lecture material? See Matt. If Matt is not around, contact your TA etc. If you can’t find your TA any of the other team members will help you.

OR,….Go to the Biology Study Center. CONRADI 339 M-R9:00A.M. – 4:00P.M. F9:00A.M. – 3:30P.M.

Extra Credit/Pop Quizzes Each quiz is worth 4 pts (4/4 for just being here today!) These points equate to 4% extra & above your overall lab grade. i.e. It is possible for a student to get 104% (Not happened yet!) It can change a grade if you are borderline. 87% (B) 91% (A)

Pop Quiz Rules Take only one form - don’t take them for friends who are coming later (after 11:30A.M.) Put your name and correct section # (Points deducted if this info is missing or wrong!) If you cheat, are an accomplice, - or even if we only suspect it - you will be asked to leave.

Cheating Any student caught cheating - or suspected to be, will be punished according to the rules of the Academic Honor Code (possibly thrown out of the course and even the university!) Take this warning seriously!

Respect You must be respectful of the Instructor, the Coordinator and your TAs at all times. We try to be friendly and courteous, but any students failing to do as they are told after an initial warning will be treated as a disruptive student and punished accordingly.

Special Needs Students Please identify yourself to me after this lecture - by or in person. Your privacy will be maintained at all costs. All such students should be registered through the Student Disabilities Center and need to bring their paperwork to me a.s.a.p.

Get Organized NOW! The best way to learn all of this material is to get organized. Create a chart similar to the one the on the refrigerator in the lab CON 239. Word or Excel work equally well for this purpose. The course and every exam is cumulative so it is imperative the you keep up with the material.

Paperwork Collect all of your pop quiz/extra credit slips and lab quizzes back from your TA. Take them to keep or to trash! At the end of the semester I have to keep ALL of the paperwork left for one year …and I’m running out of space!
