Welcome to Parent Orientation 4 th Grade

Chart of 4 th Grade Opportunities/Responsibilities Opportunities for 4 th Graders: Safety Patrol – Morning Car Greeters Austin Trip Symphony Trip Scouts leading the Pledges at Bulldog Boogie 4 th Grade District Track Day Talent Show End of Year Party Responsibilities of 4 th Graders: Being on time. Being prepared with supplies. Keeping a clean and organized folder and remembering to bring it to school. Turning in completed work on time. Managing behavior – the Wylie Way!

Citizenship Grade : 3 parts: 1.Responsibility - Students start each week at points for not having materials/supplies - 5 points for late work - 5 points for failure to mark behavior chart - 5 points for not turning in homework - 5 points for not having Smith folder 2. Behavior for each “In The Dog House” 3.Headings – 5 points off for each missing/incomplete heading Cumulative Citizenship grades below the set thresholds will keep students off A or A/B Honor Roll.

Grading ELAR includes two graded subjects: Writing: grammar, spelling (1 averaged grade per 3 weeks), and writing pieces Reading: comprehension and vocabulary ELAR includes two graded subjects: Writing: grammar, spelling (1 averaged grade per 3 weeks), and writing pieces Reading: comprehension and vocabulary Nine week grading terms /Progress reports at 3 & 6 weeks Re-teaching may be provided for all students who score below 70% on an assignment or test. After completing after school tutorials, a student may re-do the original assignment or be given an alternative assignment to demonstrate mastery. Both the original grade and the re-do grade will be recorded in the gradebook. **When students are absent, they will need to attend after school tutorials to get lessons/work they missed.

CONTACTING US: VS. VOICE MAIL All voice mail messages come to us as s. However, we can only hear them by playing them over our room speakers. That means all the students can hear the message as well. For that reason, we do not listen to them until 1:30 during our conference period OR after school if we have meetings during conference time. s can be read during the day if they are brief. Notes about changes in transportation are best as a quick note on the monthly chart OR a short .

Austin Trip Trip will be in May Parent meeting on September 22 nd 6:00 is a presentation about the Science Fair and it will be followed by information on the Austin Trip. Fun changes this year!!
