Melrose Mare Stamps Out Bad Bugs

Melrose Mare lived on a farm in Happy Town. Happy Town was a place where everyone smiled and was healthy. Life in Happy Town was fun!

Melrose Mare cantered around Happy Town and said to everyone she met, “Hello there I’m Melrose Mare I stamp out bugs everywhere. I canter north and I canter south To keep bad bugs from your nose and mouth.

“I want to keep bad bugs away So you can run and jump and play. Listen carefully, I really care, If it’s touched your mouth then please don’t share!”

Melrose Mare cantered over to Baby Duck and said, “Hello Baby, how are you feeling today?” “Oh, my tummy hurts,” groaned Baby Duck, “and my head is hot, too.”

“Don’t worry,” said Melrose Mare. “I will tell your Mummy and Daddy so they can take care of you. I will look around your home for any bad bugs that could have made you sick, too.”

Melrose Mare stamped on all the bad bugs around Baby Duck’s home and Happy Town. She wanted her friends to stay healthy.

Peter Pig, Daisy Cow and Rosie Rabbit visited Baby Duck when he was feeling better.

“Remember, to stay healthy you must wash your hands after going to the toilet and before you eat,” said Daisy Cow.

“Remember to cover your mouth when you cough or sneeze,” said Peter Pig.

“Remember, do not share your drink bottles or any food that has been in your mouth,” said Rosie Rabbit.

Melrose Mare smiled. “That’s right, my friends. Everyone in Happy Town can be healthy and happy if we remember to do these three things,” she said. o Mare smiled. “That’s right, my friends. Everyone in Happy Town can be healthy and happy if we remember to do these three things,” she said.

“One, wash our hands. Two, cover our coughs and sneezes and three, don’t share anything that has been in our mouth.”

The End “Three cheers for Melrose Mare!” said everyone. “Hip, hip hooray. Hip, hip hooray. Hip, hip hooray!” This book is copyright to the Amanda Young Foundation ( and has been created to support the Foundation’s Kiddy Canter Health Program.
