Essential Features of FEP  Began in Title 3 HIS Grant.  One year in duration.  Linked Classes- basic math or English with counseling.  Counselors & Teachers meet weekly with partners and once monthly with all members of the program.  Coordinated subject matter.  Research based.  Proven record of persistence, passing and progress.

Pass Rate Comparison  129 of the 179 (72%) Freshman Experience classes outperformed a comparison group of similar students in non-Freshman Experience sections of the same math or English classes.  60 of the 92 (65%) English FE classes outperformed the comparison group.  69 of the 87 (79%) math FE classes outperformed the comparison group.

English 061 Cohorts Completion of 061 & 101 Within 1 Year For example, 47% of Freshman Experience students from the Fall 1997 cohort successfully completed English 061 and 101 on time within one year compared to 51% for the comparison group of similar students not in Freshman Experience.

Math 060 Cohorts Completion of 060 & 080 Within 1 Year For example, 35% of Freshman Experience students from the Fall 1997 cohort successfully completed Math 060 and 080 on time within one year compared to 21% for the comparison group of similar students not in Freshman Experience.

Math 080 Cohorts Completion of 080 & (105, 140,160 or 219) Within 1 Year For example, 32% of Freshman Experience students from the Fall 1999 cohort successfully completed Math 080 and one of the following: 105, 140, 160 or 219 on time within one year compared to 36% for the comparison group of similar students not in Freshman Experience.
