WI Counseling Services Updates on Current Transfer Initiatives – SB 1440 Transfer Admission Guarantees (TAG’s) Transfer Updates
Transfer Initiative Update – SB 1440 SB 1440 – Purpose is to streamline the Transfer Pathway ( To Earn Admission for Transfer through AA/AS-T 60 semester units IGETC or CSU GE No additional local graduation requirements required Minimum GPA 2.0 Majors Approved 16 Majors Statewide Following the TMC – Transfer Model Curriculum RC/NC has 3 degrees – Communication, Math & Psychology 6 New Fall 2012 Degrees – Administration of Justice, Early Childhood Education, Business Administration, Kinesiology, Physics, English Degree Names Associate in Arts for Transfer – AA-T Associate in Science for Transfer – AS-T
Current Transfer Initiatives – SB 1440 Benefits 2 Desirable Outcomes: Earn a degree and transfer Establish a clear pathway to transfer Consideration in admission priority Defined requirements after transfer (no more than 60 units) CSU will develop Independent Degree Plan (IDP) Additional Information CSU will guarantee “Junior” status to AA/AS – T degree students SB 1440 Admission Priority Worksheet ( – provides a grid that shows the benefits and criteria for a SB1440/non SB1440 student including local vs non local applicant Will admit to a “similar” major (already defined by CSU’s) Not guaranteed to a specific campus or major Students self report on CSU Mentor AA/AS – T status Spring 2013 CSU admits are for SB1440 students only – only 9 CSU’s are participating Fall 2013 – CSU admits are dependent on the November 6 th Initiative
Current Transfer Initiatives – Local Area Admission Due to budget constraints and impaction of programs and campuses, many CSU’s have implemented a local area admission policy Local Area Applicants are given priority for admission Out of the area applicants may be held to a higher GPA, which is typically determined by each CSU based on their applicant pool each semester Each CSU has defined which school fall into their Local Area Each CSU has defined what local area means Chart available at

Transfer Admission Guarantee’s (TAG’s) TAG’s are accepted in the Fall (September 1 – 30 th ) for the following Fall term online at UC that participate in TAG: UCD, UCI, UCSC, UCSD (last term for TAG’s for Fall 2014 transfers), UCSB, UCM, UCR All UC’s have specific criteria for each college and major GPA Ranges from to qualify for a TAG (Preview TAG Matrix) Very competitive and criteria changes annually Students can still transfer without a TAG
