Presentation transcript:

Welcome to Shangyin Elementary! Greetings to everyone! Thank you for sharing information about your school and yourselves with us. We are happy to get to know you – and proud to give you a tour of our school.

Shangyin is located in China’s largest city, Shanghai.

Can you find Shanghai on the map? Here’s a hint: In school, we learn that the map of China looks like a rooster. So, we’re at the top of the chicken breast!

Shanghai is located along the Huangpu River. The Huangpu flows into China’s longest river, the Yangtze, just north of the city; and the Yangtze flows into the East China Sea, just east of the city. So, we are not far from the Pacific Ocean coast.

Shanghai is a modern city…

... and Shangyin is a modern school. Let’s take a look inside…

Shangyin specializes in music and art.

Can you see the musical theme in the architecture of the buildings?

So, let’s take a walk around and see the school… On the left is the classroom building and, on the right, is the music building.

We also have a track and field and a playground.

Shangyin is surrounded by apartment complexes, like these:

Let’s see what’s happening inside the buildings… When you enter the classroom building, you’ll see the school mission.

As you can see, we are a bilingual school. We have students from Shanghai, other Chinese cities and other countries and regions, including South Korea, Japan, France, Taiwan and South Africa.

Inside the school buildings, besides taking classes, we do a variety of activities.

Shangyin is a boarding school, so some of us even live here in the dormitory. We all eat lunch in the school cafeteria (with the teachers).

Now we’d like you to meet some of our principals and teachers. Here are our principal, Shi Xiao Yan, (left) and vice principal, Zheng Zu Shan.

Here are one of our art teachers (left), one of our music teachers (center) and one of our English teachers. They each helped us complete the China School Project.

Here are the four teachers whose classes are participating in the China School Project.

Finally, since we are an arts school, we’d like to share some of our artwork with you.

This page and the next nine pages feature artwork by 3 rd through 5 th grade students at Shangyin.
