Mark 11:12-26 Cursing the Tree & Cleansing the Temple

“Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me. I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing.” John 15:4,5

V.15 And they came to Jerusalem. And He entered the temple...

Vs 15 He... entered the Temple and began to cast out those who were buying and selling in the temple, and overturned the tables of the moneychangers and the seats of those who were selling doves;

He overturned... the seats of those who were selling doves;

As Christians, should we ever be angry? Eph. 4:26: “be angry, and yet do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger”

V.16 and He would not permit anyone to carry goods through the temple.

Vs 17 "Is it not written, 'My house shall be called a house of prayer for all the nations?' But you have made it a robbers' den."

“...do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own? For you have been bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body.” 1Cor. 6:19-20

If my body is a temple of God, then how about: - Tobacco use? - Alcohol or other drug use? - Pornography?

1) Confess it. 1John 1:9. 2) Seek the help of a trustworthy person to whom you can be accountable. 3) Win the battle for your mind: - Philippians 4:8 - 2 Corinthians 10:5

Mark 11:18 “And the chief priests and the Scribes heard this, and began seeking how to destroy Him;” V.20 “And as they were passing by in the morning, they saw the fig tree withered from the roots up.” "And the surviving remnant of the house of Judah shall again take root downward and bear fruit upward.” Isa. 37: 31

Matt 21:20–22 the disciples marveled at what happened to the tree. Mark 11:22 “And Jesus answered saying to them, ‘Have faith in God.’”

V.24 "Therefore I say to you, all things for which you pray and ask, believe that you have received them, and they shall be granted you.” 1 John 5:14–15

25 "And whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone; so that your Father also who is in heaven may forgive you your transgressions.” Col. 3:13 “bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, whoever has a complaint against anyone; just as the Lord forgave you so also should you.”
