INTRODUCTION TO PHOTOSHOP

TOPICS TO BE DISCUSSED……….  Introduction Introduction  Features Features  Work Area Work Area

Introduction An image editing software developed and manufactured by Adobe Systems Inc. Photoshop is considered one of the leaders in photo editing software. The software allows users to manipulate, crop, resize, and correct color on digital photos. The software is particularly popular amongst professional photographers and graphic designers. Photoshop files have default file extension as.PSD, which stands for "Photoshop Document." A PSD file stores an image with support for most imaging options available in Photoshop. These include layers with masks, transparency, text settings etc.

Features of Photoshop  SELECTION  LAYERS  CROPPING  MERGING IMAGES  REMOVEL OF UNWANTED ELEMENT  SELECTIVE COLOR CHANGE  SLICING

 KEEP HISTORY  WEB OPTIMIZATION  INTEGRATED ADOBE USER INTERFACE  PAINTING  HEALING SPOTS

SELECTION This is the most powerful feature of Photoshop. We can select only part of the image within we want changes take effect. this is done with the tools like marquee tool, lasso and pen tool. LAYERS Layers is a set of different stacked elements that contains different parts of an image. This is one of the best feature of Photoshop. Layers helps you to work on different parts of a photo and put them together for a finish.

CROPPING Cropping helps you to select a portion of the image that you want to retain and deletes the rest. MERGING IMAGES This feature allows two or more images to merged as one.

REMOVAL OF UNWANTED ELEMENTS This technique involves the use of clone tool to maintain the texture of the image. This is useful when you want to get rid of distracting objects in an image which gives more focus on the subject. This feature can enhance close up portraits. SELECTIVE COLOR CHANGE This feature lets you alter certain parts of an image, keeping the rest of the color original

SLICING This features the ability of slicing a whole image into parts and labeled with different files and later on used as contents of a website. TRACK OF EDITING HISTORY The history log in Photoshop can help you remember how to repeat a technique and record time tracking information for client work. This option is disabled by default.

WEB OPTIMIZATION Adobe Photoshop includes various features for producing the highest quality web graphics with smallest possible size. With the use of Photoshop we can precisely balance image quality and file size and these images can be easily uploaded and downloaded through internet. PRECISE MASKING With magic eraser and background eraser tool we can add transparency to images. we can use magic eraser to erase similar pixels on a layer with a click of mouse. Background eraser dynamically erase pixels on a layer and creates transparency.

INTEGRATED ADOBE USER INTERFACE Photoshop integrates tightly with adobe’s professional publishing and dynamic media tools. Photoshop shares a common user interface and compatible with Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Premiere and other adobe products.

PAINTING A few painting tools like brush, pencil, paint bucket are available in Photoshop. These can be used to retouch images by altering and adding color pixels. Original images can be created using brush tool. It has many different brush-tips and brush stocks that can be easily adjusted in size. Pencil tool allows user to paint rough strokes on the canvas, creating a similar effect to a real pencil on paper. The paint bucket tool is used to fill areas of canvas with color. HEALING SPOTS With improvement retouching tools like the clone stamp too, and healing brush tool, imperfections of an image can easily be removed.
