Introduction An image editing software developed and manufactured by Adobe Systems Inc. Photoshop is considered one of the leaders in photo editing software. The software allows users to manipulate, crop, resize, and correct color on digital photos. The software is particularly popular amongst professional photographers and graphic designers. Photoshop files have default file extension as.PSD, which stands for "Photoshop Document." A PSD file stores an image with support for most imaging options available in Photoshop. These include layers with masks, transparency, text settings etc.

SELECTION This is the most powerful feature of Photoshop. We can select only part of the image within we want changes take effect. this is done with the tools like marquee tool, lasso and pen tool. LAYERS Layers is a set of different stacked elements that contains different parts of an image. This is one of the best feature of Photoshop. Layers helps you to work on different parts of a photo and put them together for a finish.
CROPPING Cropping helps you to select a portion of the image that you want to retain and deletes the rest. MERGING IMAGES This feature allows two or more images to merged as one.
REMOVAL OF UNWANTED ELEMENTS This technique involves the use of clone tool to maintain the texture of the image. This is useful when you want to get rid of distracting objects in an image which gives more focus on the subject. This feature can enhance close up portraits. SELECTIVE COLOR CHANGE This feature lets you alter certain parts of an image, keeping the rest of the color original
SLICING This features the ability of slicing a whole image into parts and labeled with different files and later on used as contents of a website. TRACK OF EDITING HISTORY The history log in Photoshop can help you remember how to repeat a technique and record time tracking information for client work. This option is disabled by default.

With the use of Photoshop we can precisely balance image quality and file size and these images can be easily uploaded and downloaded through internet. PRECISE MASKING With magic eraser and background eraser tool we can add transparency to images. we can use magic eraser to erase similar pixels on a layer with a click of mouse. Background eraser dynamically erase pixels on a layer and creates transparency.

PAINTING A few painting tools like brush, pencil, paint bucket are available in Photoshop. These can be used to retouch images by altering and adding color pixels. Original images can be created using brush tool. It has many different brush-tips and brush stocks that can be easily adjusted in size. Pencil tool allows user to paint rough strokes on the canvas,creating a similar effect to a real pencil on paper. The paint bucket tool is used to fill areas of canvas with color. HEALING SPOTS With improvement retouching tools like the clone stamp too, and healing brush tool, imperfections of an image can easily be removed.
Photoshop Work Area
A. Menu Bar – The menu bar contains menus for performing tasks. The menus are organized by topic. For example, the Layers menu contains commands for working with layers. B. Options Bar – Contains options for the currently selected tool. C. Toolbox - The toolbox holds tools for creating and editing images. D. Document Window – The Containing Window of a document being worked on inside of Photoshop.
E. Active Image Area – The Document Window contains the Active Image Area (Shown in White above). This is the area an artist works in. F. Navigator – A small version of the current documents active image area. Used for navigating large images, or when zoomed in. G. Color Palette – A palette used to select foreground and background colors for painting / drawing with.
H. History – Constantly updating record of previous changes made inside of a document. Can be used to reverse steps taken. I. Layers – Layers in Photoshop allow you to work on a single canvas, letting some things appear above or below others.
