Challenges for the Chair

What has been the working relationship between your VR agency and the high schools ? How is your council involved? Observer? Partner? Referee?

Has VR leadership and SRC talked about how VR will do outreach to your state’s students with disabilities? Have you discussed numbers? Does your council have a representative from your school system to provide information? Do you have separate schools for students who are blind, deaf, or other disabilities?

Has VR leadership and SRC talked about how VR will do outreach to youth and adults who are working in sheltered workshops? Have you discussed the numbers? Does your council have a representative from community rehabilitation programs? Do you know what state agency handles sub- minimum wage certification in your state?

Legislative Visits Will you be visiting with your legislators ? Do you visit alone, with VR, or both? Will your visit focus on what VR has accomplished or on the impact of WIOA?

On the lighter side… Which member or members of your council have been the most active? The least active? Do you think WIOA will change who you recruit to your council? If so, who? And now…
