WARM UP WHAT ARE BASIC LIFE SKILLS? With a partner, discuss what you think life skills are and how we use them on a daily basis.

What is substance abuse? With a partner, create a list of all the substances you can think of that are abused.

TODAY WE WILL: DISCUSS WHAT BASIC LIFE SKILLS ARE DISCUSS WHAT SUBSTANCE ABUSE IS LIST SUBSTANCES THAT ARE ABUSED LEARN FACTS ABOUT DRUGS AND TOBACCO DEFINE SELF IMAGE AND DISCUSS WHAT IT IS EXAMINE HOW WE GET OUR SELF IMAGE.

Facts about substance abuse 430,000 people die each year due to tobacco use. 650,000 people die per year when you add alcohol and drug related deaths and accidents. These numbers increase greatly when factoring in disease caused by all of the above.

Turn to pages 6 & 7 in your lifeskills workbook.

A TRUE TEST OF SELF IMAGE IS LOOKING AT YOURSELF IN A MIRROR DO YOU LIKE WHAT YOU SEE? WOULD YOU LIKE TO CHANGE? CAN YOU CHANGE FOR THE BETTER? CAN YOU CHANGE FOR THE WORSE?

SELF IMAGE IS A VERY IMPORTANT PART OF OUR HEALTH! WORK ON YOUR SELF IMAGE AND STRIVE TO BE THE BEST PERSON YOU CAN BE!!
