E d u c a t e – A d v o c a t e – S u p p o r t 6 CyberPatriot III CyberPatriot III Features: 1)New, flexible online education – suitable for general security awareness AND team preparation 2)Each team provided license for Microsoft Academic Alliance Developer AA™ software 3)Two Divisions: “All-Service” (JROTC/CAP) & “Open” 4)Competitor Relationship Management (CRM): a)Registration/verification b)RSS feeds, Wiki, Blog, Team Webpage 5)Mentoring program (local or online) 6)Culminates in National Championships in D.C. with CyberFutures Symposium & Technology Exhibition Entrance Fee of only $350 provides full access, team kits, all team expenses to in-person events

E d u c a t e – A d v o c a t e – S u p p o r t 7 CyberPatriot III – Online Component How it works: 1)Coach can access training materials at 0-day at: highschoolcdc.com (CIAS website) 2)After verification by principal, coach registers team (up to 5 primary/5 alternates) on: 3)Online qualification rounds next fall: a)Team downloads encrypted image (VM) b)At STARTEX, password is released, team unlocks VM which connects to scoring engine c)Progress on hardening VM is provided to team as “% complete” VMs increase in complexity/variety as rounds progress

E d u c a t e – A d v o c a t e – S u p p o r t 8 CyberPatriot III – System Requirements Minimun Requirements: Hardware: 1 Ghz (Intel preferred) processor 2 GB RAM 20 GB of free disk space Keyboard & Mouse Network connection (DSL or better) 1024x768 or higher display (Optional) It is recommended to use a projector or large display to share the screen output with the rest of the team, but not required. Software: Operating System (Windows 2000 or newer, recent VMware supported Linux, or Macintosh or later) Web Browser ZIP client capable of handling encrypted ZIP files (7-Zip preferred) VMware Player (for Windows or Linux) or VMWare Fusion (for Macintosh) For later Qualification Rounds with multiple (up to 3) VMs, a separate system for each VM is desired
