e5 & Professional Learning Presented by Camp Hill TPL Team 2010

e5 Revision Game: Musical e5! (Woo hoo!)

Professional Learning Goals & e5 Domains Please choose one of your e5 goals and move to the domain that corresponds to that goal. Share your goal with the other people in your domain group. Find someone in your group that has a similar goal.

Partner Activity Ask you partner the following question. “If you could have dinner with three people (living, dead, famous, family, etc) who would they be and why?” You will then introduce your partner to the group and share one of the people they chose and why.

Where to now? You will be working with your partner to support each other to develop knowledge, skills and attributes to enhance your teaching practice. You will plan a lesson with your e5 goal as the specific focus. You may choose any learning area for your lesson. Prior to the lesson, you and your partner will have a Planning Conversation. During the lesson, your partner will make observations and collect agreed data. After the lesson you and your partner will have a Reflective Conversation.

The Role of the Professional Learning Partner The person you are paired with is your Professional Learning Partner (PLP). The PLP has two roles: 1. To support; and 2. To observe and collect data. The partnership is reciprocal and non judgemental.

The Planning Conversation The Planning Conversation will support you in planning a lesson with your specific goal as a focus. The Planning Conversation is designed to help you to clarify your goal, extend your thinking around your goal and develop self directed learning.

Modelling the Planning Conversation Decide on roles. The PLP initiates conversation using the proforma. The teacher responds to the questions. The PLP verbally summarises the response and then gives opportunity for the teacher to clarify or add. The PLP records responses. The PLP gives the proforma back to the teacher at the conclusion of the discussion.

Homework (Yay!) By the next staff meeting (June 1 st ), you need to have selected a learning area for your lesson (e.g. Writing) and thought about the context of your e5 goal within this lesson. At this meeting you will take part in the Planning Conversation with your PLP. Questions???
