Carbohydrates  Carbohydrates= energy.  two types: simple, complex.  part of healthy diet.  convert to energy rapidly.  pasta, rice, beans, are full of carbs.  bread, corn have a lot of carbs.  short lasting bursts of energy.

Protein  Two types :Isolate and Concentrate.  protein is medicine to body.  Fish, soy beans have protein.  Antibodies - are specialized proteins.  Most important for athletes.  muscles tear if you don’t have protein.  Defends the body from antigens.

Fats  good fats and bad fats.  Need fat for our nerves.  help control body temperature.  helps intestines absorb.  peanut oil and beef have fats.  eating fat makes you lose weight.  fats benefit your immune system.

Fibre  two types, Soluble fibre, Insurable fibre.  Lowers your cholesterol level.  Reduces your risk of colon cancer.  almonds and apples have lots of Fibre.  Fibre is a mix of many different substances.  named from a man nicknamed the Fibre Man.  found in plant cell walls.

Vitamins  Vitamin C, vitamin E, vitamin A, B vitamins, vitamin D and vitamin K.  milk, oranges lots of vitamins.  Helps vision in dim light.  Provides cell growth and healthy skin.  Vitamins help body processes.  maintain normal growth and activity.  meats, fish and dairy products have some.

Minerals  Macro minerals and  Trace minerals.  Eggs, Cow milk has lots of minerals.  Help enzymes.  Hormones would be ineffective.  Minerals are Substances.  their functions during metabolism.

Water  Covers 70 percent of the surface.  Our bodies are made up of about 60 to 70 percent water.  The brain is about 80 percent water.  acts as a messenger within our systems.  Clean water is essential for life.  We should all respect drinking.  Drinking water quickly can lead to water intoxication.
