OFDC-SEPA Founded in 1994, aims improving environmental quality and human life through participating in organic inspection and certification, organic crops development, sustainable agriculture and agro-forestry, bio-diversity and biosafety.

Mission: ensure human health and sound environment through promoting sustainable development of agriculture. OFDC Big Family

 The first IFOAM member in China.  24 branches in 21 provinces (municipalities or autonomous regions).

Major Achievements  Research & Development * One of the OFDC’s eco-farming experimental site won the award of “The Global 500 Roll of Honour” of UNEP * The National Key Research Project “The Environmental Safeguard and Technology for the Production of Agricultural Products”, 2003

2) “Development of Organic Farming in Poverty Stricken Areas of China” which lasted for 6 years from 1997 to 2003 with 4.5 million DM supported by GTZ

Organic Food Development Planning for,  Panjin Municipality of Liaoning Province  Guiyang Municipality of Guizhou Province  Yiwu County of Xinjiang Autonomous Region

 Dissemination Plays significant role on  promoting the development of organic movement in China.  providing important technical supports to the drafting of national organic standard as well as the national organic certification and accreditation management and supervision regulation.

 “Organic Food times” the first journal in China regarding organic movement.

 Organizing national training workshops every year.  3000 trainees, 200 thousand people benefited.

Actively involved in international and domestic activities Published more than 100 papers home and abroad. Published 7 books

 Inspection and Certification OFDC was first accredited by IFOAM in early 2003 (the first in China and the third in Asia)

By the end of 2003, more than 300 OFDC members obtained organic farm/processor/trader certificates over 150,000 hectares of farm fields certified, of which many have successfully entered into the organic markets in EU, North America and Asia.
