Minor Depression A mood disorder accompanied by feelings of hopelessness, sadness or helplessness Two or more symptoms must be present Symptoms must be present for at least two weeks May go away or become chronic

Major Depression A mood disorder accompanied by feelings of hopelessness, sadness or helplessness that are long lasting 5-9 symptoms must be present Symptoms must be present for at least two weeks

What causes Depression 1.Inability to cope with a life crisis 2.Changes in brain structure 3.Genetic predisposition 4.Low serotonin levels 5.Traumatic family events 6.Physical illness or disorders 7.Alcohol and drug use
