1 Welcome to Geology A class where science rocks! Paricutin, Mexico

Parícutin, Mexico, 1943 Within 24 hours a 40 meter high cone hurling volcanic bombs several kilometers away had been built. After nine years of activity, two villages had been buried

5 Course Description Learning about geology will help you understand the environment in which you live. You will learn to make realistic choices concerning major issues on planet Earth! Such as… Beach Erosion Glaciers Groundwater Contamination Earthquake and Volcano Hazards Fossil Formation Caves Environmental Issues with regards to mining of important resources We will be focusing a major part of our studies examining the geology of New Jersey

6 Course Requirements Participation in lab and field observations Weekly quizzes and tests Organized notebook…3-ring binder is best. Final exam Positive Attitude-This is not an elective for all students…be prepared to do work!!

7 Field Trips Sandy Hook Environmental Center Pyramid Mountain Sterling Hill Mine
