Additional Recreational Information NY is proposing to eliminate the special striped bass Party/Charter permit. For-hire vessels would fish on the regular Party/Charter permit. Everyone needs to report landings of all species caught on trip report forms.

NY Commercial 28” min size fish quota = 795,795 lbs. 24” min size fish quota (conservation equivalency) = 730,920 lbs. Catching 28” minimum size would require gear change (increase in gill net mesh size from current 6” minimum, stretched mesh, inside measure, throughout the net, to 6.25 or 6.5” minimum mesh size).
