What is Moodle? Moodle is the Learning Management System or Learning Platform within South Western Sydney Institute (SWSI) You can communicate, collaborate, complete learning activities, and access resources online in one place 24/7. Who is using Moodle?
How do we engage learners online? I will focus on three ways learners engage with activities that are created, within Moodle externally, and linked into Moodle within a toolbox that is linked to Moodle Please NOTE, that the course level which is in Moodle, is of AQTF II Certificate II in Hairdressing, Certificate II in Nail Technology & Certificate II in Make-Up Services
Activities created within Moodle The Moodle has 23 tools that you can use and choose from. I will focus on four types, Quizzes Forums Assignments Feedback/Surveys
Quizzes within Moodle The quiz tool allows you to create all types of quizzes ranging from, True or False Multiple Choice Cloze
The Forum How I use the Forum within Moodle! I use the Forum as a discussion board, to discuss a topic or to collaborate students thoughts about a particular unit.
ASSESSMENTS There is a variety of ways this tool can be used and the way I have used the assessment tool is through, Advanced uploading of files Online text Audio Recording
Feedback / Surveys There are two tools that capture feedback and surveys. I have used the feedback tool to engage learners in providing their thoughts about using Moodle.
Activities created externally then linked to Moodle A cloze (drag n drop) activity that was created in LAW. A crossword activity was created in Eclipse, then linked into Moodle A word document that engages learners, about setting up an evacuation plan A video that engages learners Flash activity that learners can interact with
Activities within a Toolbox linked to Moodle The Cyber Hair Toolbox and the Ocean View Grove Toolbox are toolbox I use to engage learners. The students are instructed to areas they need to complete within the toolbox. Cyber Hair Toolbox Ocean View Grove Toolbox
