A SELFIE’S PRAYER Matt. 20:20-28 Salome, wife of Zebedee, mother of disciples James and John went to Jesus for a request. Oftentimes we make UNWISE PRAYERS to God. Prayer of Escape (1 Kings 19:4) Prayer of Frustration (Numbers 11:15) Prayer of Sectarianism (Jonah 4:3)

A SELFIE’S PRAYER Salome’s prayer – A SELFIE’S PRAYER It was a prayer of pride – Her two sons occupying key seats in Heaven. By pride comes nothing but strife (Prov. 13:10, Matt. 20:24) PRIDE HAS NO PLACE IN HEAVEN PRIDE PRECEDES DESTRUCTION (Prov. 16:8)

A Selfie’s Prayer NO CROSS, NO CROWN. THRONES ARE EARNED. NO GUTS, NO GLORY. NO PAIN, NO GAIN. Prayers must be with Humility (1 Peter 5:6-7) Paul’s prayer was for God to take away the thorn in the flesh that is making him suffer. There are times we don’t want SUFFERINGS ONLY BLESSINGS.

A SELFIE’S PRAYER Paul’s thorn in the flesh = Pride. (2 Cor. 11:23- 27) GOD’S GRACE IS SUFFICIENT FOR US. (2 Cor. 12:9-10) SUFFERINGS ARE GOD’S WAY OF HUMBLING HIS PEOPLE. NOBODY IS EXEMPTED. IF WE WANT TO BE GREAT, YOU MUST BE A SERVANT AND A SLAVE OF ALL. (Matt. 20:26- 27)

A SELFIE’S PRAYER OUR PRAYER MUST BE ACCORDING TO THE WILL OF GOD ( 1 JOHN 5:14) Jesus said to Salome; “It is not for me to decide where James and John will be seated. It is my Father’s decision.” ARE WE WILLING TO BE PLACED WHERE GOD WANTS US TO BE?

A Selfie’s Prayer Jesus submitted Himself to the will of His Father (Matt.26:39, Phil. 2:5-11) Paul submitted himself to the will of God (Phil.1:12) THE HOLY SPIRIT MUST HELP US IN OUR PRAYERS (ROM. 8:26-27). WE DO NOT MAKE PRAYERS FOR OUR OWN PLEASURES (James 4:3).

A SELFIE’S PRAYER THE HOLY SPIRIT DIRECTS AND HELPS IN OUR PRAYERS. HE MAKES INTERCESSIONS FOR US ACCORDING TO THE WILL OF GOD. THE ANSWERS TO OUR PRAYERS ARE FOR THE GLORY OF GOD.
