THE CRITERIA You must Have L 1 English, working towards L 2 Have L 1 Customer Service Have L 1 Maths Have basic ITC skills Conduct yourself in an exemplary fashion at all times (Including on the wing) You must be OMU certified (via application to prison) Having all the above does not guarantee you a position as a mentor. The final decision is made by Education Management and the Peer Educator Coordinator.

THE BENEFITS The mentor scheme provides the mentor and mentee with the tools required for successful rehabilitation and integration back into society Promoting personal development, self esteem and overall positivity Providing employability skills that will lead to realistic opportunities within many areas of the job market Gives direction to ones life; from negativity to prosperity and navigated by the compass of new found confidence Having all the above does not guarantee you a position as a mentor. The final decision is made by Education Management and the Peer Educator Coordinator

PRISON BENEFIT The mentor scheme acts as a spine of strength and positivity to the body of this establishment We create a safe working environment which is conducive towards genuine rehabilitation We incorporate equality, diversity etc, promoting inclusivity, social skills and overall progression of offenders We provide tutors with support and maintain a structured ethos and stability in what at times can be an unpredictable environment

LEARNER BENEFIT The mentor scheme offers outstanding support to all learners involved in educational opportunities in prison Wing support offered to learners 7 days a week On wing mentors office 70 mentors throughout the establishment coordinated by 4 senior mentors Bi-weekly mentor meetings with input from learner feedback
