What is a Still? A Still is the instrument used to process mash into drinkable alcohol. (Outdoors)

Components of a Still (Grabianowski) Mash Worm Worm box Bucket Cold water Thump keg*

What is Mash? Mash is the mixture of all your ingredients. – Mash can be made from: corn, Rye, fruits, different types of sugar, yeast, water. (Carolina ShineFest 2011)

Worm? The worm is a coiled length of pipe that winds down the inside of the worm box (Tim Smith Moonshine). The worm box is a crate or barrel into which cold water from a nearby water source is pumped, flowing into the top and then back out the bottom (Tim Smith Moonshine). This keeps the worm bathed in constantly circulating cold water, which condenses the alcohol steam into liquid (Tim Smith Moonshine).

How the Process Works Yeast and sugar is added to the mash Yeast breaks down the glucose in the mash to make ethyl alcohol Mash is heated to evaporate the ethyl The worm box condenses the ethyl steam, into liquid ethyl

Why it’s Illegal Moonshine is untaxable by the Federal Government, making it illegal to make and sell

NASCAR was born Nascar in a nutshell was born from moonshiner because the bootleggers would modify their cars to out run the law. Having these fast cars, soon became something moonshiners would race against one another, those making Nascar.
