R & E by David Benedetto

Hoot The main character in the book “Hoot” is Roy Eberhardt. He is 12 years old. His family had just moved from Montana to Florida. He is a very nice boy. His worst enemy is Dana Matherson. He has friends named Garrett and Beatrice. Roy doesn't know it yet, but he is about to be involved in an interesting adventure.

1 Roy has a enemy named Dana who is a very bad person to be around. He physically hurts Roy by choking him. One time they were on the bus, and Dana choked Roy and Roy punched Dana and broke his nose. Dana had to get surgery to repair the nose and to relocate it. Roy spent a lot of time trying to avoid Dana

2 Roy has friends named Beatrice and Garrett. He also met a police officer named Officer Delinko. He works for there community police station. Garett is a very good skateboarder. He invites Roy to skateboard with him.

3 Beatrice has a stepbrother that got kicked out of the house and runs around everywhere. The kid wears the same exact clothes everyday. He wears a Miami Heat jersey, Nike pants, and no shoes or socks!! Roy on his first day of school saw the running boy next to the bus stop and caught up with him another day to see why he was running.

4 The community is making a Mother Paula's pancake house for a nice breakfast restaurant. There has been a lot of problems building the pancake house. Beatrice’s stepbrother has been doing stuff at the building location to make the building harder to build. He is trying to save the owls that live underground on the land where they want to build the pancake house.

5 Roy and Beatrice saw Beatrice’s stepbrother saving the owls so they don’t get dangered from the pancake house being built. Beatrice’s stepbrother cares about other people and animals so that’s why he went and helped the owls. The owls ended up surviving.

6 Dana Matherson tried to break into a trailor to steal stuff including drinks from the soda machine. She got caught and went to Jail for 16 years. Dana even said when the police saw him that he was Roy. But the police knew she was Dana.

7 At the groundbreaking ceremony for the pancake house, the kids were hanging arms together so they don’t find there stepbrother so the pancake house will not go open for business. The other people at the pancake house did not believe there was any owls but a owl came flying down into the hole. Roy then proved that owls were living there. Mother Paula did not have permission to bury up the owl dens and the owls survived.
