Instructional Assessment Google Docs Powerpoint Lesson Plan Survey Monkey

Preliminary Background Information Student Demographics: 26 students, 12 boys, 14 girls, urban elementary school. Grade: 4th, public school Curriculum Area: Science Unit of Study: Weather

Preliminary Problem Statement What students know? What they need to know? Students are familiar with weather, but many students and their families are not prepared for inclimate weather. Many families do not have a weather emergency kit in their home. Several students are unaware of the possible dangers caused by inclimate weather.

Data Collection Tool Form or document for students to use. Google Docs presentation Blog Survey Monkey--students will be able to quickly respond to the questions. Mobile data collection Turningpoint.com

Data Collection Survey Monkey--students can write down their answers to the questions about the topic. Mobile data collection--the negative with this type of data collection is that students do not have the same type of phone.

Rationale Results What do students need to learn? ~ how to be prepared for a variety of weather ~what materials are needed ~what needs to be done prior to a weather event.

Instructional Goal Statement Results of instruction ~Students will be able to put together an emergency weather kit. ~Students will learn how to prepare for inclement weather. ~Students will know what to do prior, during, and after inclement weather.
