Literary Element: Plot

Lizzie bright and the Buckminster Boy

Plot Features Exposition: the start of the story, the situation before the action starts including setting and characters. (little action or emotion) Rising Action: the series of conflicts and the development of the crisis in the story that lead to the turning point. Include all the important events. Climax: the turning point, the most intense moment—either mentally or in action. This is the point of the story when something CHANGES. Falling Action: all of the events which follow the turning point Resolution: the conclusion, the tying together of all of the threads.

Assignment Details Create a plot diagram using events from Lizzie Bright and the Buckminster Boy: The final copy of the diagram must include words and may include pictures. We will identify portions of the sequence in class. The diagram will be based on the model below. Indicate the critical events in the five categories (exposition, rising action of conflict events, the turning point/climax, falling action, and the resolution) that move the novel's plot forward. You may use one or several sheets of paper to form a long strip. If necessary, fold or roll the chart when you are finished. Enjoy and make it fantastic!
