The pits are filled with tar that has been coming up for thousands of years. It is a place were you can see bones from the Ice Age. It is pits where animals got stuck in and then when another animal wanted to eat that animal, it got stuck to.
Between 1913 and 1915 they stared to dig for fossils. In 1977 George C. Page Museum opened. Now they have millions of fossils.
