Let’s record what we notice…

We are going to rename each fraction on MJ pages 342 and 343 as a decimal using division. Write each digit shown on the calculator up to six digits following the decimal point. Let’s try 2/3. Press 2 on your calculator, the division button, and 3. What is your decimal? Write up to 6 digits after the decimal point.

Patterns we noticed… For example: I see that some of the fractions have short decimal names with 1, 2, or 3 digits after the decimal point and no other digits behind that. What do these fractions with short decimal names have in common?

Experiment with the % key on your calculator to find a way to rename ¼ as a percent. Write your method in your Math Notebook. One way: You do NOT need to use the % key on your calculator to rename a fraction as a percent.
