Section & Detail Drawings 7 useful to illustrate vertical relationships & dimensions in building delineate important details and construction assemblies can show building materials & methods need to be related to floor plan using appropriate symbols

8 arrow shows the direction of the view top number is the section number bottom number indicates the sheet it is drawn on length of building— longitudinal section narrow width of building—transverse section Section & Detail Drawings

12 Section & Detail Drawings heavier line work is used to delineate materials that are “sliced” through lighter lines show objects beyond the cutting plane— showing “depth”

Section & Detail Drawings in interior construction drawings sometimes section and detail are interchanged—confusing section cuts through small portions of construction or objects—called details not all detail drawings are drawn in section though
