Why the Development Gateway ? By building upon partnerships, the Development Gateway can help expand the reach and relevance of communities of practice; To foster capacity building in developing countries on how best to share knowledge via the Internet, relying on public-private partnerships; To support the development of tools and services for the development community;

Why the Development Gateway (cont.)? To exploit the power of the Internet, by relying on a decentralized approach of content development and open-source solutions; To help set standards and new practices for knowledge sharing among development actors; To promote transparency and coordination with respect to international aid in a common platform.

AiDA Largest source of public information on development activities  Offers access to 480,000 records on current and past development activities from a range of donors  Information organized by country, sector, funding organization, activity status, or date  Potential to reduce duplication of efforts and enables better-informed decisions by offering a picture of past, previous, and upcoming projects in a country or sector The bottom line: better coordination, standards for information sharing, more effective aid The Development Gateway Portal

Types of Content Partnerships Guide Institution: an expert organization in the field, which manages the page, recruits other partners and decides on the overall direction Cooperating Organizations: organizations that deal with the subject- matter and contribute knowledge resources to the page, as well as cross- promote the page Advisors: Individual experts who participate in the making of important decisions and give recommendations re the content of the page.

Youth for Development Topic Page What is the Youth page? A knowledge portal, which facilitates knowledge sharing on youth-sensitive analysis, actions, and policies. What does it feature? New research and reports, database with youth-related development projects, directory of youth organizations and individuals worldwide, calendar of events and daily update of news. How can you participate? By joining the site, you can receive alerts about new content. When you become a member, you can post articles, websites, news or events. You can also comment on existing content or join the online discussions.
