AppleWorks Nearly all label functions are created in the database environment One database file can maintain many different label formats A database file can be used to merge data into a word processor document
Labels on AppleWorks AppleWork’s functionality comes from the database application. Any clip art, drawing, or figure can be used Use the drawing tools Data can be deleted in the future with the forms and label containers remaining.
Database Layout Menu Layout Menu –Browse –Layout –Define Fields –New Layout –Layouts
Arrange and Options Drawing tools in the Layout Menu Turn Autogrid off for easy nudging of on screen graphics.
Let’s Get Crack’en AppleWorks - Create database. Layout - New Layout Select ‘Labels’ and choose the Avery# Choose at least one data field for this label. Design the label within the gray body lines. This label will be replicated for each record in the database.
Other Label Types Create a new layout as before (Layout - new layout) Select ‘label’ and the Avery# of your label Design you new label as before
Printing Labels View page output by returning to Layout - Browse View the different layouts using the Layouts menu Print a whole page by creating blank records (30 for mailing labels) Create records for students to include database information on label

Quick Labels in Word Create a sheet of labels that has ever label looking the same. Tools menu, Create Labels. Choose the Avery Label # Type in the label window Click OK or Make Document Edit sheet as needed
Use Student Data in Labels Create a new Word document Insert a table large enough for class data and complete the table. Save the file. Create another new Word document. From the Tools menu, select ‘mail merge’ or ‘data merge manager’.
Cont. Student Data in Labels In ‘Main Document’, create labels In ‘Data source’, select the previously created file containing student data. Drag the data fields needed for the label and add any text needed. In ‘Merge’, merge to a new document. Edit as needed.
