The Minnesota Governors Council on Geographic Information, a coordinating council created by an executive order of the Governor, designates the Land Management Information Center, as represented by its Geographic Information Clearinghouse Manager, as authorized to enter and edit data in the Geographic Names Information System (GNIS), limited to civil and populated place feature types within the state of Minnesota.
