Materials for Class Eighth Grade Band Standards of Excellence Book 3 Essentials Music Theory book-2 Do not buy Theory book- All Classes Need Reeds, valve oil, pencil and paper, Woodwinds- 5 reeds. One per day- letter day M, T, W, Th, F, Notebook, Percussion Will need to get Vic Firth ER2 Intermediate Ed pack.

Band Monthly and Year Calendar. Is on the Mr. Privette’s Wiki page and pamsband.weebly.com. Practice Time at home Students are expected to practice at home. at least 20 min. at least 5 days a week. Afterschool practice are from 4:00-5:30, they may ride the Activity bus after school home. The buses leave at 5:40. If a parent is not here by 5:35 to pick up their child the student will be put on the bus to ride home. All parents must not park in the Bus loop during Activity Bus pick up.

All Band Classes ARE part of the Concert Band. Either 6 th, 7 th or 8 th grade concert band. Minimum after school practices (approximately 2 per year the day before the concert) These practices are listed on the band calendar. 3 mandatory performances Winter Concert Spring Concert Solo/Ensemble-Spring Concert Band Attire Male black dress pants, Black long sleeve button down shirt, Black socks, and black dress shoes (no sneakers) Female Black dress provided by the band. black dress shoes (no open toe shoes) Concert Band Fees $25 Band T-shit- $10.00 Polo Shirts for our Dress Up Field trips, Cost is $15 for the Polo Shirt.

Voluntary participation (Unless 8 th grade to opt out of PE) After school practices (approximately 2-3 per week in Sept. after October is goes to two. ) Approximately 8 performances per year Home PA football games (3) KHS/OLHS football game Holiday Lights at the Beach Parade Spring travel performance Strawberry Festival Parade Marching Band Attire Uniforms will be provided, but students must wear band t-shirt and shorts under uniform, black socks and black marching band shoes must be worn at all performances. Band Shoes- $22 Yours to keep-also to wear with for Concert Band attire.

Jazz Band Attire: Male black dress pants, Black long sleeve button down shirt, and black dress shoes, or Band Polo Shirt with khaki pants. Female Black dress provided by band, black dress shoes (no open toe shoes) or Band Polo Shirt with khaki pants.

Plus to doing Band 7 th Gr. Band- you can sign up for Zero Bell-PE, still take Band and a Foreign Language for High School credit or another class. (example a high school credit computer class) 8 th Gr. Band- Marching Band counts as a PE credit. Take band and Foreign Language for High School credit or high school credit computer class or another elective- ex. Art. High Schools offer the same electives as middle school and more.

PAMS Band Member Form: (Name, bell, grade) Shoe size or shirt sizes whatever you need. All Forms and Fees are due on October 1 st, 2015 If you need any help just let us know.

Entertainment book $25.00/first two books to the band. After that goes into you student account into points. After you sell 5 E-books you receive one E- book free. (You only get one free book) Pizza/Cookie dough sales-Fall & Feburary

Still under approval. April 29 –May (Plus Chartered Bus), $210 price Includes Tickets, Hotel room, and 2 breakfasts meals a day and one dinner. Cost of the bus depends on how many students and chaperones attend the trip. Based on 130 people. You must be in year long band to attend the Spring trip and it is optional to attend. Band Essay Music Student Scholarship Essay Contest through SBO magazine. Due- Dec 19th online. Make a copy after you submit it and turn into Mr. Privette on or before Dec. 19th Topic- “Learning Music IS More Than A Class At School. It Also….” Top 5 Middle Students nationwide will receive $1000 scholarship for anything related to music. More details: go to then click on 2016 Essay Contest.

PAMS Scholarship To apply for the PAMS Band Scholarship your Senior Year in High School: Requirement: Two years in the PAMS Band Class Either year long in 6 th, 7 th or 8 th grade class. GPA –High School 3.0
