California: Top S&T Issues 1. Stem Cell Research How can California set effective public policy to maximize public benefits from its state-funded stem cell research program? 2. Energy Supply How can California best ensure an ongoing, sustainable, and economical supply of energy for electric power and transportation? 3. Science and Math Teaching How can California develop or attract more highly skilled teachers of science and mathematics who are essential for training and sustaining our technological workforce?

Security Are there new technologies to reduce the labor-intensive task of ensuring the security of California's power grids, natural gas pipelines, aqueducts and refineries? 6.
