INTERNET RULES Mr. Evans

Never give out personal information on the Internet. Such as their address, telephone number, the name or location of their school, or their parents' names. However, once personal information is given, it is important that your children understand that their privacy can be compromised. Their names could end up on a sales database, or worse, the information could be used to harm or exploit them.

Always inform an adult when they come across anything online that makes them uncomfortable. If anything happens online that makes the student uncomfortable, the should tell an adult. Parents and children can alert their Internet provider or the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children hot line at

Avoid chat rooms that discuss sex or cults. While these topics may seem interesting at first, they could put a child in danger. The child should never be on any website of this nature in the first place.

Never respond to messages or bulletin boards that are sexually obscene. Threatening, or make them feel uncomfortable in any way. If this happens, the student should always tell an adult.

Never send any personal materials online Such as an address, telephone number, or photograph, without first informing parents or an adult. Online predators could gather the information and harm the child.

Always be reminded that the people they meet online may not be who they say they are. They have to be careful online, the people they talk to may not be the person they think. This puts online chat rooms harmful when they are not monitored by the teacher or parent.

Do not harass another student By no means should a student harass another student online. This is cyber-bullying.
