Presentation transcript:

The Local Squire of a beautiful village wants to produce a small scale replica of the village centre using natural looking materials. The replica is to be sold in the village gift shop and should show all the main attractions of the village. You are to design the replica and produce a prototype model that could be shown to the King of England hopefully to get him to come to the village on his next progress. Your design should: 1. Be accurately scaled to the real village 2. Be no larger that 300mm square. 3. Have a background view. 4. Be capable of being displayed when assembled. 5. Be tough enough to withstand handling. 6. Look real.

Week 1 Week 2 Week 3 Week 4 Week 5 Workshop safety and use of hand tools. Material selection. Design ideas, trial and error, modelling. Making components for model. Making component for model and assembly. Assembly onto base, finishing and self assessment What types of building are in an old Tudor village Gather materials for your model Take home pieces to finish Design and draw the background If you miss any lessons, this programme is available in sections on Floppy Diskette, see your teacher for a copy.

Sketch some of your ideas Example

Step by step making the village Draw out plan / outline onto base. Mark out and cut to length wood for buildings. Fix in place using PVA glue. Fix panel pins spaced for fence posts. Use copper wire for fence bars Build trees / hedges / grass paint to finish Create background cards and fit to base. Wrap wire around pin

How did your Model Village compare to the Specification at the beginning? How could you improve on your design? How successful do you think your project was?
