Stocktaking and Tunis  Tunis Agenda, paragraph 120 the Stocktaking of WSIS-related activities, which will serve as one of the valuable tools for assisting with the follow-up We encourage all WSIS stakeholders to continue to contribute information on their activities to the public WSIS stocktaking database, maintained by ITU.  “The sharing of information related to the implementation of WSIS outcomes is an important element of evaluation. We note with appreciation the report on the Stocktaking of WSIS-related activities, which will serve as one of the valuable tools for assisting with the follow-up, beyond the conclusion of the Tunis Phase of the Summit, as well as the “Golden Book” of initiatives launched during the Tunis phase. We encourage all WSIS stakeholders to continue to contribute information on their activities to the public WSIS stocktaking database, maintained by ITU. In this regard, we invite all countries to gather information at the national level with the involvement of all stakeholders, to contribute to the stocktaking.”

Selected Projects : Governments  QATAR  Promote learning management systems and pedagogical trainings to Independent Schools to improve the learning and teaching through ICT integration Learning Management System: Provides teaching and learning tools to improve content delivery, facilitate resource accessibility, enhance communication and expedite administrative tasks  Republic of Moldova  Since 2001,it became a tradition to hold each year, in April, the Conference BIT+ with active support of state bodies and representatives of science from the Republic of Moldova, with participation of managers of national and international companies, who activate in the field of information and communication technologies.  Philippines  National English Proficiency Program of CHED aims to conduct intensive courses to improve the English proficiency of the faculty in areas targeted for call center operations

Selected Projects : Governments  Brunei  Ministry of Education e-Education strategy plan goals are to achieve the following: - Provision of reliable and efficient ICT resources - Provision of appropriate and relevant training to all stakeholders - Increased ICT pervasiveness in the working and learning environment - Transformation of the teaching and learning environment where appropriate  Egypt  The main objective of the Illiteracy Eradication Initiative is to produce electronic, efficient, and simple content for teaching Arabic words, characters, and elementary mathematics to the populous through IT Clubs, the Internet, and CDs  Ukraine  Plan of measures are elaborate as national program of step-by-step information society development in Ukraine. With these programs we expect to find optimal solutions to global problems by effective usage of e-learning techniques

Selected Projects International and Regional Organisations  Commonwealth Secretariat  This project builds on already existing efforts and initiatives and is currently developing a set of bilingual, dynamic websites and a system of accounts to aid learning.  United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA)  The main goal of the project is to empower the poor and disadvantaged communities through the transformation of existing ICT access points in selected countries around the world into knowledge hubs of global knowledge networks.  UNRWA  ICT in UNRWA GAZA Schools project aims to introduce ICT as curriculum & to use ICT to enhance teaching and learning across the curriculum.

Selected Projects : Civil Society  Belgium: The Destree Institute  The Destree Institute will organise on Saturday 8th March 2008 in Liège (Wallonia), the International Conference "Millennia 2015”. Millennia aims to build some answers to the divides linked to gender (political, economical and social, educational and cultural).  Netherlands - Viafrica foundation  All projects are aimed at effectively using ICT in education and local organisations. At the moment, the pjoect focuses on enabling secondary schools to effectively integrate ICT in their curricula.  Egypt - Tanweer for Education & Development Association  The objective of the project is to implement a self study program using ICT to help illiterates learn how to write and read. By the end of the program 1200 illiterates will not only have eliminated their illiteracy but learned how to use the ICT

WSIS Stocktaking: Future progress  Tracking progress made in building the Information Society Stocktaking Database  Maintaining and improving the Internet-based Stocktaking Database new sub-definitions  Adding new sub-definitions of the projects for each action line descriptions of projects  Encouraging all WSIS stakeholders to submit and update descriptions of projects links to moderators/facilitators  Establishing the necessary links to moderators/facilitators to share and exchange information efficiently WSIS stocktaking interface  Distributing WSIS stocktaking interface
