HOMELESSNESS A CORRECTIONS CHALLENGE DOC HOUSING PROGRAM & MCORP REENTRY INITIATIVE

THE CHALLENGE 90% chemically dependent or abusive 25% are on psychotropic medications 40% of females on psychotropic medications Ex-offenders have gone from 27% or the homeless population to 47%, in the last 10 years* 95% of offenders will be released * 2006 Wilder Homeless Survey

THE CHALLENGE, cont. 7700+ offenders released in FY2007 8.5% released to shelters or temporary housing 520 to Union Gospel Mission and Salvation Army Harbor Light Wilder Research shows almost half of homeless adults at some point have been in jail or prison
