Paul Revere Chapter (PRC), AFA rd Quarter Newsletter Paul Revere Chapter-#178 3 rd Quarter Newsletter July through September September 30, 2013 Dear Paul Revere Chapter Members, Friends and Supporters: A heartfelt thank you to you all. Our Chapter just came back from the AFA National Convention where we were recognized and presented the Donald W. Steele, Sr. Award. This award is the 2013 Unit of the Year award. The chapter is stronger than ever and we continue to serve and support Airpower and the many men and women of the Air Force family. There is much excitement in the near future and this coming year. We just elected a new slate of officers, all great people and great workers. October 8th, we’ll be headed to the links at Shaker Hills to golf with leaders and members of the Air Force at Hanscom AFB and on 9 November we will be executing our 4th Annual Fun Run. There is much to do and many great folks to work with. Come on out support one of these events, meet the new officer team and/or simply join one of the greatest chapters in the Air Force Association. Paul Revere Chapter (PRC), AFA rd Quarter Newsletter, AFA National Convention September 14 and September Awards Dinner At the awards dinner, our chapter was recognized and presented our certificate as the 2013 AFA Unit of the Year. This award is also known as the Donald W. Steele Award. Representatives from the 200 chapters across the Air Force Association were present for this awards dinner. The great work and efforts by the men and women of the Paul Revere Chapter were also recognized with the National Outstanding Extra Large Chapter; Exceptional Service Award in Veterans Affairs; an Exceptional Service Award in Communications; an Aerospace Education Achievement Award; Community Partner Achievement Award and Special Recognition-Sustained New Member Recruitment.

Paul Revere Chapter (PRC), AFA rd Quarter Newsletter, AFA National Convention September 14 and Annual AFA National Convention and Conference Location: Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center Convention: September 14 and 15 Conference: September 16 through 18 The Paul Revere Chapter was granted 6 delegates to attend the annual convention. The delegates who represented the Paul Revere Chapter-#178 were the following: Chief Kathleen McCool Jamie Thurber Jenny Hopewell Keith Taylor Paul Zauner Peter Vergados Two additional AFA members represented the state of Massachusetts Max Lantz, AFA Massachusetts State President Ron Adams, AFA Massachusetts State Treasurer In total there were 8 delegates representing the state of Massachusetts. _________________________ On 14 and 15 September the delegates from all states voted on new or renewed chapter officers at the national level. The delegates also reviewed and voted on the State of Policy that the AFA uses to provide focus for the advocating, educating and supporting airpower and educating the community. Results of the elections on 15 September 2013 as reported from the AFA National Facebook page: The results are in from the elections for our AFA leadership positions! Our National Officers are as follows: Chairman of the Board: George Muellner Vice Chairman of the Board, Field Operations: Scott Van Cleef Vice Chairman of the Board, Aerospace Education: Jerry White Secretary: Marv Tooman (newly elected) Treasurer: Len Vernamonti We also have three newly elected National Directors. Our new National Director for the Central Area is David Dietsch. Our two new National Directors At Large are Peter Jones and David Warner. Paul Revere Chapter (PRC), AFA rd Quarter Newsletter, Vettes to Vets The 2013 event was a great success. Over 1600 Veterans, caretakers, dedicated Corvette drivers and supporters were served a great barbecue. 452 Corvettes paraded onto the grounds of the Bedford VA.

Come join us on Saturday November 9th 2013 to raise money for Veterans’ programs and recently deployed troops and their families. We are partnering again with the Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital in Bedford, MA to create a great event for the whole family, with live music from the Aldous Collins band and much more. It was my first time attending and I was so impressed by the passion of the AFA Leadership to represent the concerns and needs of our AirForce as part of our pledge to Educate, Advocate and Support. I came away from Nationals more motivated than ever, and I invite you – our members- to get involved with AFA. We need more than just your membership to make a difference, we need you! And how can you get involved?
